Im Surfing the Wiki & all this indredibely funny stuff keeps comming up :D
Wiki: Albert Hofmann LSD - My Problem Child
Dr. Hofmann discovered the psychedelic effects of LSD after accidentally ingesting some through his fingertips on April 16, 1943. Three days later, on April 19 (later known as Bicycle Day), Hofmann deliberately consumed 250 µg of LSD, and experienced far more intense effects (see: LSD for details). This was followed by a series of self-experiments conducted by Hofmann and his colleagues.
D: Yeah, I can Believe that :D Sounds like fun :D
He became director of the natural products department at Sandoz and went on studying hallucinogenic substances found in Mexican mushrooms and other plants used by the aboriginal people. This lead to the synthesis of psilocybin, the active agent of many "magic mushrooms".
D: RESEARCH is what they called it then a days, Research is what it took to be near the source of it all :D
Wiki: LSD
"LSD" is an abbreviation of the German chemical name of the compound, Lysergsäure-diäthylamid.
It was first synthesized in 1938 by Swiss chemist Dr. Albert Hofmann in Basel at the Sandoz Laboratories as part of a large research program dealing with ergot alkaloid derivatives as cure for head aches. Its psychedelic properties were unknown until Hofmann, acting on a hunch, returned to work on the chemical 5 years later.
D: So what did they put on the box under Side Effects? :)
Many clinical trials were conducted on the potential use of LSD in psychedelic psychotherapy, generally with very positive results. LSD first became popular recreationally among a small group of mental health professionals such as psychiatrists and psychologists during the 1950s, as well as by socially prominent and politically powerful individuals such as Henry and Clare Boothe Luce.
D: Sorry hun, I need to work late today.. The collors are SO bright - What did you say? - Nevermind, I was thinking aloud, need to go!
Studies in the 1950s in using LSD to treat alcoholism professed a 50% success rate. Alcoholics Anonymous, on the other hand, has a success rate of 5% or less.
D: THIS kind of shit they Never tell us :s
Hillarious link..Urban Legends involving LSD :D
Gotta LOVE disinformation & Panic :D
Wiki: MK-Ultra The CIA mind controll research
The experiments often took a sadistic bent. Gottlieb was known to torture victims by locking them in sensory deprivation chambers while dosed on LSD, or to make recordings of psychiatric patients' therapy sessions, and then play a tape loop of the patient's most self-degrading statement over and over through headphones after the patient had been restrained in a straitjacket and dosed with LSD.
D: Brutal :/
Gottlieb himself took LSD frequently, locking himself in his office and taking copious notes.
I can (again) imagine the dude sitting in his room, ready for another Trip :D
In one case, a selection of volunteers were given LSD for 77 days straight.
D: AUCH!
LSD was eventually dismissed by the researchers as too unpredictable in its effects. Although useful information was sometimes obtained through questioning subjects on LSD, not uncommonly the most marked effect would be the subject's absolute and utter certainty that they were able to withstand any form of interrogation attempt, even physical torture.
D: hehehe - I CAN TAKE A N Y T H I N G ! ! ! :D
Canadian experiments
The experiments were even exported to Canada, when the CIA recruited Albany, New York doctor Ewan Cameron, author of the psychic driving concept which the CIA found particularly interesting. In it he described his theory on correcting madness, which consisted of erasing existing memories and rebuilding the psyche completely. He commuted to Montreal every week to work at the Allan Memorial Institute, and was paid $69,000 from 1957 to 1964 to carry out MKULTRA experiments there. The CIA appears to have given him the potentially deadly experiments to carry out, as they would be tried on non-US citizens.
D: .. :s & these guys are a big force in the world???????
In addition to LSD, Cameron also experimented with various paralytic drugs, as well as electroshock "therapy" at 30 to 40 times the normal power. His "driving" experiments consisted of putting subjects into drug-induced coma for months on end (up to three in one case) while playing tape loops of noise or simple repetitive statements. His experiments were typically carried out on patients who had entered the institute for minor problems such as anxiety disorders and post-partum depression, many of whom suffered permanently from his actions.
D: SCARY!
Wiki: Mescaline
D: Aparently.. mescal isnt popular enough to have extensive Wiki info..
Nazi Human Experimentation Very similar to the above, only difference being they LOST the war..
At Auschwitz concentration camp, Josef Mengele carried out medical experiments.
Mengele's experimentation included placing subjects in pressure chambers, testing various drugs on them, freezing them to death, and various other usually fatal traumas.
..
The full extent of his work will never be known because the two truckloads of records he sent to Dr. Otmar von Verschuer at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute were destroyed by the latter. Subjects of Mengele's experiments were almost always murdered afterward for dissection, if they survived the experiment itself.
D: The fact that it happened is an outrage ofcourse.. But even worse is that here s nothing left of it all! All those people actually Died In Vain just because one probably scared loser burnt it all :/
The LIST of experiments *nausea*
At Buchenwald numerous healthy inmates were deliberately infected with typhus virus in order to keep the virus alive;
D: OMG :s
Wiki: Compulsory Sterilisation
This is one of the "unhuman experiments" Nazi Germany did.. Do note that it was also done in the other half of the civilized world.. America & parts of Europe!!
.. From drugs to inhumane experiments.. What a trip :)
In the end, one thing to remember is ofcourse.. Wiki is BY the people & there isnt any assurance that its CORRECT! Ppl have tested it by putting up nonsense & checking back x days later.. It was unaltered! So Wiki is NOT by defenition right - Pitty!! :(
