There was a boy.. who wanted to grow dreadlocks. "I'll be part of that special community, made up by those cool people with dreadlocks." he tought.. "I'll have instant friends! A group of people I dont know individually but still am a member of. The few," he continued, "the special people. Those inspired by the great rastafarian tradition. Following in the footsteps of many religious men.. The Hindu, Astec, Indian, Māori (Ringatu) traditions. Old traditions!"

So he started his journey. Got some friends to do his hair. The start of a long trip. Dreadlocks are not simple to get. You need to make a decision, and stick with it. Not just for a week.. or a month.. Because the first year is awful. It does not look good. It does Not look like real dreadlocks.. to the trained eye!

The boy stuck with it. Although a hard ride. Its a growth process.. There are a lot of sites out there that tell you you cant change the locks you get. That tell you, you just have to take them & love them. That tell you you just do..
Altough I am not that boy, I do have dreadlocks & I can say.. Its true. Its something that grows with you and takes a lot of time & effort to get there! So when they 've matured.. they re SO Personal.. - this is starting to sound like having kids..
I had never considered a moment in time when Id say I love my hairstyle. But right now.. I just DO! Its amazing, really. And I'll have to give 'em up soon. Because of work, career and rigid social expectations about something as silly as appearance.

The boy needed to cut his hair too, some time later. and there is where i'll pick it up again, that history of his.. Although by telling it, by making it up, by .. its also a lil of my history. No writer can steer clear of his own machinations!

The boy cut his hair. And he wasnt happy with it. He was proud of the locks. They meant something to him. And they also meant the membership to the club to which he was a member, if only in his mind. That club of which he proudly wore the colors. That club he never saw the benifits of.
He realised that cutting his hair would mean the end of this membership, with no way to ever reclaim the pride. Scorned by all those members, as he used to scorn the normal folk.. At least not without looking like a loser.

I've started running. 2 times this week already.. I should get it up to three & keep it up.. I hope it works! Because the movement is doin me A Lot Of GOOD! Im even happier because of it!

Which is probably why I can keep it running. The X just hasnt been in my sphere of interest for several years! I only cared about system internals. And in some way, I still dont feel like putting much effort in the X! yet slightly more than before :/ So I'll figure this out one day or another :)

Another loathesome moment..

Another loathsome exam.. Im going in tomorrow with No chance whatsoever. In studying I even more realized I dont have a single chance in passing tomorrow. I need a 100% on that exam to pass, so the chances werent that fat either way! Its simply Another math exam :( Arse :( Altough this time its under the flag of AI. Interesting, but in the bud, its no more or less.. MATH :/

Anywho.. That ll be September! I will have to do some math about rent & stuff about that :)

Nintendo Game & Watch

This was THE hot stuff when I was a child..

PORTABLE COMPUTER GAMES!! Nintendo Game&Watch They were all so cool! There were the normal ones, Supernice.. and the clam-shell model ones. The later ones were simply too cool! Owning one of those, being able to play one of those at ANY time? Beyond cool!

I owned Balloon fight (Man, I LOVED that game, I still do.. tough I dont have it anymore :( ) Parachute (hehe), Octopus and Chef! I just LOVE balloon fight :) Later I also got Multi Screen Mario Bross!!


But those games couldnt touch the Complexity.. The Pure EVILNESS of Zelda! Zelda was So Incredibly amazing, you just DIED if you werent able to play it!! Imagine my luck being able to borrow it! Hot Damn, I played that one for HOURS!

I also liked the Micro VS System but I just couldnt afford those :/ I always got them on vacation! Every year in some idyllic foreign location, I would get one of those lil bundles of Bliss!

5 years ago, I discovered a pocket remake of zelda I think it was. A small mini version, made by nintendo. I ofcourse Immediately bought it! My luck tough.. I borrowed it to a friend and the sod was so stupid as to burn down his enire room.. Clothes, bed, computer, Everything.. And .. worst of all .. My GAME :'( Ofcourse its extremely tragic for him.. But IT COST ME MY GAME :'( :'( I hope I can find those again, one day :( Or play a collection of those games on my DS :) That d be SuperAwesome!!!

Incredible! I just discovered a small part of the new Internet Explorer 7 update!

Amazing, Simply AMAZING! This time they went too far! Each time I open an executable on my comp I have to click a button to confirm I REALLY want to. Now now, its possible to disable this EXTREMELY ANNOYING function.. AT THE COST OF MORE SHIT! Either I take the confirmation each time I open something or I have to endure a warning label while surfing the internet. One of those yellow bars, drawing attention..

Once again i'm GLAD I Dont use IE, but Firefox instead!

Another Incredibly DUMB move by MS! By god, I look forward to switching back to Linux! At least I can control my own machine then!

Frothed Milk

I made myself a latte with my Expresso Machine.. And if Id only made the coffee a bit stronger it d have been GREAT! :)

Previously Frothed Milk always failed.. We knew it was due to the milk we used but.. somehow I started doubting the machine too.. But now I tried with the right milk & some sugar (I've been waiting for cane sugar all year long.. cane sugar, yum!) and It WORKED :) Heavenly :D

I feel like getting a second one but I learnt the hard way I shouldnt.. :/ Its a pity. But I'll get some more tomorrow :) With a stronger brew this time.

I finally did some work on my ampache installation..

I installed another skin & tinkered with it so it suits my needs

& I installed XSPF (well, actually the XSPF Web Music Player) & changed some code as described on the ampache forum Howto: embedded flash based player (xspf) with small personal modifications. (to accommodate for another path than scripted)

And it works, Yaay!

It took me a week to find her in my collection! I knew I had 2cds of a brilliant female artist & I first thought I was thinking about Joss Stone, but I soon realized I wasn't!

& now, after going trough most of my collection, I found her! Norah Jones :) Yaay! (and there was much rejoicing)

I'm extremely glad that I was able to incorporate the word "Gratis" into my english exam.. why? bc its an english word thats originally Dutch. hehe (I also wanted to put "gratuitous" in but.. that d have been a stretch

We had to write a text. It was quite ok. I wrote about technology being thrown out there by corporations for the public to find a use for it. With the camera & goofy home videos as first example and the cell cameras as a second one (of which we have all but seen the consequences) - Its an ok text. It ll probably get me enough points to safely pass! Now I can only hope I didnt put in too many spelling mistakes! :/

I feel slightly less frustrated again! I just finished studying English & .. I might take the day off :) I wont, I want to start another course I desperately need to see to, but it feels good to be clean ready for tomorrow's exam! Lets just hope I get a decent nights sleep tonight!

Curse that system (coz no, proving that you master those few more bits the system requires of you isnt worth the shit! Its just Not worth while)

The BIG Awfull problem with school is

that its SO general they just teach everybody everything.


This may sound logical but you have to consider the consequences! Learning everyone everything AND making grades dependent on "being there", "doing exercises", .. This all just makes it Incredibly DULL for those who already know what they re teaching!

Thus punishing people for whatever they already know but the system doesn't expect em to. Punishing people who know anything out of the ordinary. Killing all and any motivation to do ANYTHING!

By God! The new FF 2.0.. its the SECOND time this crap crashes on me! I Desperately need a bug fix for that. And I cant find how to turn "talkback" on again.

What also irks me is that I have this GREAT idea for a "Web 2.0" thingy (to use the new Popular term..) Problem is I don't have ANY time to make it happen. And I recon I'm probably not the only person with this idea! And I fear that by the time I'll find be able to do this, "the other guy" will have realized it. And .. I don't feel like giving it away & have no clue on how to quicken my project! its OOGIE!

Salmon Papillote

Yeah, I'm a new cellphone cam owner - lol.. And I take pics of the weirdest stuff! I said it for ages.. It ll be a painful time when I get my first camera enabled phone & .. its turning out to be true! This is the preparation of the Wonderful meal I just had! It was lovely! The pure taste of that salmon.. DAMN!

The preparations.


Fish & vegetables (Tomatoes & Carots in small pieces, altough they ll never be in long enough to get soft)


Add enough wine & herbs (& some water too)


Close it up & Put it in a 200°c oven for 15 minutes


Take it out (Since our oven is an ancient gas contraption, it was in for 18m or so at 250 and .. read on :)) & Watch out coz its hot - tough aluminum paper doesnt heat that much.. the content does!


Open carefully. Watch out for steam! Drain the fluid if you want (tough there s a lot of taste in there!)


Halfway trough eating it & DAMN it was NICE! The fish was just right. Cooked but not too much! Amazing! (Altough next time I'll probably leave it in longer, untill the fish really falls apart. It should be nice too)

Or at least thats what I tought it was. Apparently, THIS is a picture of where we almost all died :) We had gone off piste & suddenly found ourself on a very steep mountain descent with not all that much snow. A forest actually. Quite unexpected since the whole trip started off as a run I'd done several times before on my own! Problem was one of them went too far and missed a Crucial turn :) Left of the trail instead of the right we had to take! A scary part for people on their first and second week. And a scary one for me too.. Feeling responsible for those newbies :)

Remembering this moment, I love the picture even more. It was a heavy experience but the feelings were and memories are Great!

This might be a moment of .. reflection.
Its been a year now. One year ago. What did I learn since then?

I learnt some about limits
I learnt some about .. people. I trust to easily. I tended to give people too much credit & I'm in some difficult situations because of that. But that's what lessons cost!
Some about my own too.. I have a limited patience for incompetence. Although its still quite big.. Limited! Although I should really put some of that to action. There s enough and enough is ..

I need to start writing some stories. All I really need is time.. Time!
And a new blog! A new place where I can write what I think without knowing that a lot of people WILL read it. This place used feel private. But I've been too chatty about it & now I cant write what I need anymore. My name isn't on here anywhere but I'm quite sure that if needed it could be found out.. traced. And I seriously need to VENT some shit. Yet I don't feel like giving up this history. These bits, bytes and letters are a part of me. (sickly sweet, no :/) I never planned on this getting so big. Getting this attached but here I am at this very moment .. omitting to it.. again.

"committing to it.. again." somehow this part disturbs me. It keeps on ringing in my head. What does it mean. Does it really mean what I fear it does. That I am dependent on this? That I am dependent on anything? Addicted.
We cant have that :) I obviously have a problem with The Permanent Record! Because that's part of the problem.. Or .. no.. That's part of the problem but not in the way I meant when I just wrote it. I do feel I can use a permanent record. Permanent records are OK. Yet I might have to go private on it. But CAN I do this. Ive been thinking about this for quite a while. Move this to privacy & backup daily. Even off the net, why not. Every decent man with something to say should have one. Not that I think this drivel to be interesting or even important, but I believe I do have .. something to say once in a while :)

Apparently I have a happy & concentrated look on my face while writing. Mini just woke up for a second.. sweet! I'm writing the funniest typos right now. I should reread this! but I wont since I never do :) (Viva Spell checkers though!)

I have a certain feeling about this all that annoys me. but again I wont go into details here


The fact of this matter is in the end that I use this blog to straighten my head & spew out a lot of my thoughts. Another fact is that I simply have a lot of shit to tell that I don't feel like putting this weight on anyone. Too much gibberish, too much madness!

I had a 1000 things to tell but there s not one I remember at the moment

I installed some great software today.. Synergy!
Now I can use my keyb & mouse to operate my laptop. And with nothing more than some simple networking software. Its great, really!

I also HATE the cancel button on my DVD burner. Im sure now that my comp is too slow for real good burnin performance. Which came as a surprise. I knew I was under the sys reqs, but I just hadnt tought that it d matter! Anywho, viva that burnproof tech thingy!
I today canceled a DVD that had been burning for HOURS (not really hours, but it felt like hours!) with all my pictures & other personal stuff on. It hurt! So I threw away the DVD & reburnt it right now - what a biyatch

Mini's sick :( But she seems happy at her LotR DVDs! Extended versions & documentary stuff.. Nice!

Tomorrow ll be my last day at PizzaHut this year! And I'm EXTREMELY happy about that! I really need those exams so I wont have to work those hours anymore! I need some vacation

I need a snowboard vacation too, but that ll come later :/

I just upgraded my blog to the new system while waiting for the laundry to finish( I'm SO tired of the laundry.. Its taking FOREVER! Agonising) New system looks nice tough I probably wont be using the labels system!

Anywho, its a glorious moment! This Very post is my 1000th post. Not 100th but Thousand! Its incredible :) And quite amazing. Who would have thought that? Something I started to try some new software I found. This has really been a sanctuary of thoughts. A very private image of my persona, publicly available on the Internet.. You d be amazed at how few ppl read this crap :) Although I d probably be as surprised at how many people DO read this CRAP :)

So here it is. Some people would probably have a slightly more interesting post, but .. that's just not the case :)

The reason I "googled" (omg I hope they don't add this one to the dictionary :/) this is because of the incredible speech at one moment. I wanted to read it to see if it was applicable to the lack of political (or any) activity that appears to be typical for my generation! My generation seems to take Anything up the arse, without any protest at all. The student protests that drove our parents to the streets are unimaginable these days. My generation simply Does NOT care enough to stand up to what is shoved up their throats. And I am certainly one of those. I simply don't believe in protest. I do not believe that my to protesting anything will have change for result! And this is not an active belief, it just comes .. natural. Conviction might be the right word.. The only explanation is that I simply grew up seeing everyone protest and nobody caring a hoot about it. (They didn't stop Vietnam because of the hippies - and now those hippies are now following along the same lines)

anywho, here s the speech.. I thought it would be applicable to what I am talking about here.. But it isn't so entirely!

I also have to say.. that I realise that I am quite wrong in my behaviour. Things are being decided, decisions that affect me. I do not agree with a lot of them. And even tough I do not believe my protest will make any difference.. I owe it to myself and my friends to try and do something about the things I (and many others) believe wrong!


I can only hope that this meek generation will decide to finally stand up. Or all we will have left in a few years will be people saying "yes" to anyone and zealots (religious or other) forcing their deranged and extreme ideas up to anyone. (although I doubt it will be "forcing" since the others will be taking it volountarily)
But hasn't this been said many times before? And might our current state (condition) not be a fear once uttered by a now old man? In fear of losing any credibility - 1984!

Its good to be back

It was an awfull 4 days, these last days, but I'm finally back. This last week, I was completely and utterly unable to acces my computer, my personal sites (which I run on my linux box and contain my work and personal data) and anything else on any of my computers.

This is no problem whatsoever if it werent that I have such a Heap of work to do. 4 days of just having to lie around, unable to work to reach those deadlines.. Horible!

And now im back! I can finally continue my work en further enjoy my collection of music & other stuff (curse the lack of space that forces me to leave all my CDs in Lede :/)

Ring of Doom trouble

They re putting in new windows these days.. The works were planned on monday & tuesday, but apparently there are problems and they neer another day.. or more..

So its more days of camping for us. No problem there if it werent that I need my computers for school (np there, I can use Vi's - Thankx luv ;)) and RoD.. And the problem lies with the last.. I need my laptop for my emails (I can check them online if needed), I need my normal desktop for the latest Player data and I need my server for all my RoD data. Which means Im grounded at the moment! I cant work on the things I need to do before eurhm Thursday! So if they dont finish by tomorrow, I'll have to set up some of my equiptment in our camping site! And that WONT be nice :/

Its sweet to have that much feedback ;) tough I wonder who exactly my fan from antwerp is.. :p I have a clue, but..

And I desperately need to call Wietie.. She thinks Im angry at her for some reason & I need to set that straight..

I have to say.. its been quite a while since I did this thing.. Well, since I seriously did this blogging thing I mean.. Some useless links nobody cares about.. Its not what blogging is all about. Why I am having such a hard time attending the English courses on Monday morning..

As always there are two possible answers to this question. Two answers that have equal right of existence, two answers that are equally correct in their own respect. One of them, people like to call Fiction. Or bullshit if you want. The other is commonly referred to as Truth, reality or "The totality of all things possessing actuality, existence, or essence." So lets take a look at those answers.

One answer shows a view of me, working hard in school for numerous courses, trying to cope with the enormous amount of work. Every day, I either go to school or I do tasks and other work related stuff. But lets be honest, my life is more that that! Yes, indeed, because on those not so rare moments that I am NOT going to school or doing homework, I squander my time at Pizza hut! And not because of some freakish pizza addiction, No! I'm there because THAT is the job that pays my rent.. Of course this schedule makes it hard to fit in everything else I need to do.. Visiting my mom in the hospital was quite difficult, but she STOP!

I could go on for quite some time here, but lets be honest.. This answer is starting to look like reality, and nobody likes that.. So lets have a peek at the second answer and figure out if we like that one!

It was Saturday, around 7 pm and I was getting ready to relax a bit by reading trough the more exciting parts of my English course, trying to recite them by heart. Viona, my lovely girlfriend, had taken her usual place on the couch. Ready and anxious to hear the already 6th instalment of "Unit 2 Emails". I know by now that she especially looks forward to "3 Can I send attachments?" and quite dreads the "5 Am I flaming someone?" chapter. That's why I always try to read a bit faster there.. I do think she appreciates the effort. Anyhow, we were getting ready and I had taken the Orator's stance, as described by Mr David Keanrick and Mr Enoch Mossop in Blackadder the Third (if memory serves me right). My lungs filled with air as I prepared for the Roar (as is accustomed at the start of every great speech - Thank you again, Mr David Keanrick and Mr Enoch Mossop) when out of nowhere a door flung open. Now, I hear the scepticism flowing.. Doors opening isn't really peculiar, and I agree! The curiosity is in the detail, the door. It seemed to have appeared out of thin air. A door stood where no door was to be expected. As you can imagine, this was quite a surprise. We've been living in that tiny place of ours for nearly 17 months, so discovering a New door all of a sudden was quite .. weird. And so was the little guy walking trough it. A small imp like person. I had a flash of Poe and immediately asked "Are you The Imp Of The Perverse?" The imp sighed, walked to the couch and asked "Why do all you humans have to ask that? Is that REALLY the idea you have of us?" .. I was baffled "well.. euh.. no.. euhrm.. I didn't want to .." The Imp watched me in disbelief and asked "Speechless? .. They never get it right at HQ.. I had explicitly asked for an Eloquent person!" "HQ?" I asked.. The amazement was wearing off. "Never mind that," the imp said, "We need a balloon! We need a balloon and a rope! And .. We don't have time for your shenanigans." "Oh" said the Imp. "Well, that's alright, I'm no imp anyway, I'm just the little guy that lives on the other side of that door." We were finally getting somewhere. Information! "What IS on the other side of that door.. And how did it get here?". "That's two questions", the imp like thing said. "And the first one is quite a stupid one too. I just told you. My Home is what is on the other side." He told us this very matter of factly. As if the door had been there since the beginning of times and we were just extremely stupid for not having noticed it before. The imp was already continuing whatever he was saying. I missed the first part, but I tuned back in right about when he was saying.. "so stop asking stupid questions and come with me!" Viona was already getting up from the couch, so I decided to trust her judgement and follow the imp trough the small door. This is where the whole thing went really weird.
The next 2 days were filled with fantastic experiences and incredible people involved in unbelievable adventures. I'll never forget the juggling pigs, that thing with the rainbow and that Hilarious moment where the candle fell in a bucket of water.. (I suppose it was one of those "you had to be there" moments, so never mind) It was a great adventure! After all we had gone trough, the imps granted us permanent access to their network of doors, enabling me to pop out in the school privies, right in time to meet my English teacher in the hall and attend my Networking class on Tuesday.

So, there it is.. Two answers to that same dreadful question! Reality or fantasy, the important thing is that I now have unlimited access to the imps door network! The down side, on the other hand, is that they all have problems and seem to be unable to solve them without My help!

There it is indeed.. I quite like what I wrote here.. it makes me smile.. And happy. Happy because I managed to write a short story that makes me smile! I quite fancy a writing carreer when I grow too old to work.. Time will tell its tale ;)

Ring of Doom

About a week ago I started updating the RoD site. Its all but finished, but I fear im trough with it. After uncountable hours of RoD work, im tired of the bitch & feel I need some other passtime. Maybe even relaxation (wouldnt that be something)

.. But I feel that I wont give up just yet :( There s a final page I need to write & when that one's done I hope I'll be able to leave it be. Altough I still habe a wagon of shit to do. But I think that ll just wait untill I feel like it.
